II 7.1 II Janaka: In the infinite ocean of
myself the world boat drifts here and there, moved by its own inner wind. I am
not put out by that.
7.1 I am the boundless ocean. This way and
that, The wind, blowing where it will, Drives the ship of the world. But I am
not shaken.
7.1 In me, the shoreless ocean,
the ark of universe
drifts here and there
on the winds of its nature.
I am not impatient.

7.2 II Let the world wave of its own nature rise or disappear in the infinite
ocean of myself. I neither gain nor lose anything by that.
7.2 I am the unbounded deep, In whom the
waves of all the worlds, Naturally rise and fall. But I do not rise or fall.
7.2 In me, the shoreless ocean,
let the waves of the universe
rise and fall as they will.
I am neither enhanced nor diminished.

II 7.3 II It is in the infinite ocean of
myself that the mind-creation called the world takes place. I am supremely
peaceful and formless, and I remain as such.
7.3 I am the infinite deep In whom all the
worlds Appear to rise. Beyond all form, Forever still. Even so am I.
7.3 In me, the shoreless ocean,
the universe is imagined.
I am still and formless.
In this alone I abide.
nātmā bhāveṣu no bhāvastatrānante niraṁjane
ityasakto'spṛhaḥ śānta etadevāhamāstitaḥ
II 7.4 II My true nature is not contained
in objects, nor does any object exist in it, for it is infinite and spotless.
So it is unattached, desireless and at peace, and I remain as such.
7.4 I am not in the world. The world is not
in me. I am pure. I am unbounded. Free from attachment, Free from desire,
Still. Even so am I.
7.4 The Self is not in objects,
nor are objects in the pure and
infinite Self.
The Self is tranquil,
free of attachment and desire.
In this alone I abide.

II 7.5 II Truly I am but pure
consciousness, and the world is like a magician's show, so how could I imagine
there is anything there to take up or reject ?
7.5 O how wonderful! I am awareness itself,
No less. The world is a magic show! But in me There is nothing to embrace, And
nothing to turn away.
7.5 I am Awareness alone.
The world is passing show.
How can thoughts arise
of acceptance or rejection?
And where?
Synopsis
of Chapter-7
Janaka
describes his enlightened state which he started to describe in chapter 6.
Janak defines his enlightened state of mind. He explains that he is neither a
body nor anything else, he is just aware of things. As a result, he compares
the world to the passing show. There is no acceptance, rejection, or anything
else.
